This is an easy recipe for cilantro jalapeno hemp seed hummus made without tahini. If you’ve never had homemade hummus, you must try this recipe! It’s super easy to make, ready in minutes, and you can add whatever flavors you want. This hummus is made with cilantro and jalapeno for a herby, spicy kick to the traditional hummus.

Why I Love Cilantro Jalapeno Hemp Seed Hummus

Hummus is one of my favorite snacks to have when I’m craving something savory and healthy. I love ordering fresh made hummus at this local Mediterranean restaurant near my home. They’re so flavorful and come with so many flavor combinations and toppings! My favorite is their jalapeno hummus that’s super herbaceous and chunky. It’s full of herbs, spicy, creamy, and loaded with healthy plant based protein. I had to try making this myself!

No tahini, no problem! Use hemp seed!

I didn’t have any tahini at home but I did have hemp hearts and decided to add this in as a substitute. I’ve noticed hemp hearts have a rich, creamy taste when blended since I’ve made several salad dressings with them and they turned out creamy and delicious! The hemp hearts were such a good replacement for tahini, not to mention the added health benefits of using them.

So easy to make and really flavoursome – this is a dip we love. We are not tahini fans, so it was pleasing to come across a recipe for a delicious hummus that didn’t use it. Thanks for such a wonderful idea – I look forward to trying some more of your recipes!
