If you love strawberries and matcha green tea, you're going to love this drink! It's full of sweet, juicy strawberries complemented with the subtle grassy flavor of matcha green tea. Best of all, it's ready in just 5 minutes!
Strawberry matcha latte is made of three distinct layers which make this drink so beautiful!
- Bottom layer - pureed strawberries (fresh or frozen) with sweetener.
- Middle layer - milk of any kind, plant based or dairy.
- Top layer - matcha powder mixed with a bit of hot water.
Strawberries and matcha are an excellent flavor combination and which is why so many Asian desserts are made with these two ingredients. You'll also see these ingredients featured in Starbucks and boba tea shops around the world.
Ingredients
- Strawberries - Use fresh or frozen strawberries for the bottom layer of strawberry puree. Use fresh strawberries for cutting into little pieces and the garnish.
- Matcha Powder - Use the best quality matcha powder you can find for the best flavor. Look for ceremonial grade and air tight packaging.
- Milk - Use any kind of milk you prefer. Both dairy or plant based milk work great.
How to Make Strawberry Matcha Latte
First, start by pouring half the hot water into the matcha powder. Mix together using a matcha whisk or small whisk until it's lump free. Then add the rest of the hot water and mix together.
Second, puree your strawberries using a blender, masher, or the back of a fork. Add to your serving glass with ice. Next add your milk of choice. Optional: if you'd like to add boba, add it before the strawberry puree.
Third, carefully add the matcha so it creates a layer above the milk. Avoid stirring as this can dissolve the matcha into your milk. Garnish with fresh strawberries and serve!
