Spice Rubbed Oven Baked Salmon

This spice rubbed baked salmon is smoky, peppery, sweet, and a little spicy. Ready in 15 minutes, with an easy pantry rub and exact bake times for moist, flaky salmon every time.

Ingredients

  • 2 6oz salmon fillets
  • 1 Tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • teaspoons ancho chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • teaspoon cayenne powder
  • pinch salt & pepper
  • rainbow cabbage salad on the side

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, ancho chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne, and salt & pepper.
    1 Tablespoon brown sugar, 1½ teaspoons ancho chili powder, 1 teaspoon cumin, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, ⅛ teaspoon cayenne powder, pinch salt & pepper
  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Coat them with oil, then press the spice rub onto each fillet so it sticks.
    1 Tablespoon avocado oil, 2 6oz salmon fillets
  • Bake the salmon for 6 to 8 minutes for thin fillets, or 10 to 12 minutes for thicker pieces, until it reaches 125°F to 135°F in the thickest part and flakes easily with a fork.
